Description:
When the child is here they will enjoy an environment in my home that has a daycare center like feel to it. It is primary colored with a 400 sq ft soft rubber floor play area, quiet napping nursery, private daycare only bathroom and kitchen, seperate from living space. We also enjoy the safety of a fenced in backyard. My location is on Cumberland between Dempster and Oakton.
I love to teach young kids through songs and dancing. I feel they have fun while learning this way and don't get bored. I also love reading to them, they learn so much from books!! I will work with all children to learn their ABC's, counting, shapes and colors. I also assist parents in potty training. When they leave here they will be ready for school!!
I am child professional! The reason I say that is because it is all I have known my entire life. My has had her own home daycare since I was 3. I always enjoyed helping her with the kids at a young age and as I got older I became her helper. She gave me 6 years paid experience. In addition to that I was a teen sitter that helped her families over weekends and evening care.
Now I am a happily married mother of two. I have a 3 year old son and a 1 year old daughter. I have been a stay at home mom with them up until now as we have decided that one boy and one girl is perfect for our family! Now that we have those infant years out of the way I have opened my own daycare and I am studying to receive my associates degree in Early Childhood Education.
This is the same discipline method I use for my kids. My discipline method is very basic and very effective as long as you follow it to the T. for example it doesn't work for daddy anymore because he doesn't always follow through with the method. We start with telling the child about how the action is not allowed and ask the child not to do it again. Then the next step is when the same act is performed a 2nd time we count to 3 holding fingers according to number, if the child recognizes what they are doing is wrong we stop counting and say thank you to the child, if the child does not correct the actions and we get to #3 they will sit in a time out location for a time no greater than their age. When the time is up we tell them what is expected of them and ask for hug before they return to play. This method will be repeated as many times as necessary.
When the parent(s) feels their child is ready to be toilet trained I ask that we work with the same method and work together on that to keep the child less confused. I am open to any parents methods and also will give input when asked. When asked I recommend that the first 3 days the child will wear a shirt and training pants only. Then every 20 minutes the child will sit on the potty until they go, even if it is just a drop they can get up and play for 20 minutes before returning to the potty. This teaches the child to hold it for longer periods of time. I find that after 3 days of this method they understand what is going on and start asking to go to the potty. Before you know it by the end of week one and sometimes week 2 they are completely potty trained. |
